Reflection
This class has not only been a great reminder of the many historical events that have taken place in the United States but has also covered important happenings throughout the world that affected our history as a nation. We were privileged to dwell upon the events that led up to and caused major historical events. For example, the Revolutionary War was the result of many mistakes made by the British Parliament. Most Americans would have been happy with British rule if they had been willing to compromise and give the colonies representation.
Our studies of the events that led up to the Civil War was very enlightening. I had forgotten some of this history and was amazed how many times the differences between the slavery and anti-slavery factions could have sparked a civil war decades earlier. I have been reminded of the greatness of our nation and how easy conflicts can arise. I believe that this course is and will be highly beneficial to the students who have the privilege of taking it.
